What We Do
AKSGBV Management Committee provides advice, support, and advocacy to people in Akwa Ibom communities through our frontline services. We publish research into experiences of abuse and violence to highlight the needs of our community. We work to influence policy and to improve outcomes for people who experience abuse and violence.
Empowering Victims Of
Gender Based Violence.
We provide confidential, non-judgmental, independent support on a one-to-one or group basis. Team work survivors to create a tailor-made safety and support plan, which might include goals around personal safety, safe housing options or contacting the police.
AKS-GBVMC carries out Town hall meetings with stakeholders and community leaders across the 10 Federal Constituencies of the State.
We offer bespoke specialist training and prevention programmes in all aspects of sexual violence to both statutory and voluntary agencies as well as private companies.
We understand how difficult it is to take the first step, but when a person feels ready, we are here to help. Gender Based Violence is never the victim’s fault. We offer confidential and independent support.
We provide a range of training and awareness workshops to multi-agency professionals, challenging the myths around rape and childhood sexual abuse, developing an understanding of the impacts of sexual violence and best practice in responding to disclosures.
