Obongawan Patricia Essien-obot is a successful businesswoman who has devoted the last 28 years of her life to fighting against gender-based violence with an unflinching bias to the sexual assault on children and young persons. This graduate of English language from the University of Uyo through her Notoviol Foundation has worked tirelessly using her personal resources to provide advocacy, ensuring medical access and legal recourses for sexually violated children. In some cases, she has opened not just her heart but her home to provide motherly love for abused children.

She works tirelessly with the Nigerian Police Force to ensure that perpetrators are held to account. It was on account of her tenacity in this regard that she was inducted into the Nigerian Police Force as a Citizen Police.

Through her Foundation, Patty as she is fondly called has helped countless women who have been victims of gender-based violence as well as cancer survivors.

In further recognition of her passion in and selfless fight against gender-based and sexual violence. She is a recipient of the Eves Afric News Heart of Gold Award given in recognition of the Recipient’s immense contribution to ending gender-based violence in the Niger Delta region. She was given an award by the rotary club of shelter Afrique, where she is also Paul Harris’s fellow.
