The Akwa Ibom State Gender-Based Violence Management Committee welcomes a new leader as Her Excellency, Mrs. Patience Umo Eno, takes the helm. This marks a renewed commitment to eradicating gender-based violence within the state.
Previously established under the leadership of Her Excellency, Dr. Martha Udom Emmanuel, the Committee played a vital role in advocating for the State Gender Policy and ensuring its enforcement. The policy stands firm against all forms of violence targeted at any gender.
Building upon this strong foundation, Mrs. Patience Umo Eno is poised to lead the Committee’s continued efforts. Her dedication to this cause is evident in her enthusiastic response to the inauguration, highlighting the Committee’s crucial role in combating this societal ill.
“We are going out en-masse to fight this crime to an end,” Mrs. Eno declared. “This is another milestone, and with the enabling law in place, we will achieve much success collectively.”
The Committee remains a powerful force against gender-based violence. Comprised of 14 members representing various government sectors and civil society organizations, the Committee pursues a synchronized approach to achieve its goals.
Let us all join the Committee in its mission to create a safer and more just Akwa Ibom State for everyone.
