As part of the mandate of the Akwa Ibom State Gender Based Violence Management Committee to create awareness on the VAPP Law, members of the Committee yesterday embarked on an awareness campaign to Ikwe Village in Onna LGA.
The event which took place at the Ikwe Ultramodern Civic Center witnessed a massive turnout of men, women, youths and family heads.
At the event, members of the Committee took turns to educate participants on the provisions and consequences of violating the provisions of the VAPP law.
High point of the event was the donation of copies of the VAPP law to the village head of Ikwe town for onward distribution to his subordinates.
In his remark, the village head of Ikwe town, Eteidung Friday Inyang, expressed his appreciation to members of the Committee for the awareness and further promised to always abide by the provisions of the VAPP law in his administration of Justice.
The Delegation of the Committee led by the Secretary, Emem Ette, Esq consist of Dr. Nsekpong Udoh, Mrs. Idongesit Udoh and Mrs. Kokoma Umana. Others in the entourage include Barr. Ruth Mfon Mfon and interns in the Sexual and Gender Based Violence Response Department of the Ministry of Justice, Akwa Ibom State.
